Swarnendu Kar (S'07 M’11) received the B.Tech degree in electronics and electrical communication engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, in 2004. He has received the M.S. degree in mathematics in 2009 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering in 2013, both from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY. In the past, he has worked for Ittiam Systems Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, India. He was a visiting student at The University of Melbourne, Parkville, Australia, during October-December 2009. He joined the New Devices Group at Intel Corporation, Hillsboro, OR in September 2012. He is currently involved in the research and development of algorithms related to audio and gestural inputs in wearable devices, on which he has filed several patents. Dr. Kar is the recipient of the Syracuse University Graduate School All University Doctoral Prize in 2013. His research interests include detection and estimation theory, distributed and collaborative estimation in sensor networks, and acoustic signal enhancement algorithms.
